Maredsous Tripel (10%)

Trappist Perfection! Delicious, dark, very warming and flavoursome. Glass not up to Belgian standards though. 3 1/2 Beer Mats Bought in The Lowlander.  Price: £5.10

Steen Brugge

Very nice beer.  Quite light, with a smokey after taste.  Bought in Covent garden so the price was a little bit on the high side.  Paid £5.45 for ONE PINT, phew!!!! But all in all a nice pint 31/2  Beer Mats Bought in The Lowlander.  Price: £5.45 (Wow!)

Coors Light

In my opinion, this has an awful taste and colour (yellow urine).  Great Labelling though. Never buy a pint, stick to the bottle (it’s easier to finish). A beer for teenagers* 1 Beer Mat Bought from The Co-Operative. Price: £8 for a case of 15 bottles * We at Brian’s World of beer would never [...]

Schofferhofer Hefeweizen

Its ugly appearance means that this beer does little to lure you into drinking it. Once on the tongue, it just doesn’t grab you.  Don’t get me wrong, it has a pleasant taste, but it seems somehow unfinished. I simply struggle to get excited about something that looks like it should be handed to a [...]

(Guest Review) Paulaner Weisbier Kristallklar

A very interesting little number. Its a little strange that once poured it looks like Fosters! Golden in colour with a little fizz. However I must admit the taste is a very well deserved… 3  1/2 Beer Mats. Bought from Beers of Europe.  Price £1.99 (plus postage) Sent by Steve – Stockwell (London)

Paulaner Weisbier Kristallklar

Wow!  This is a lovely beer. After last nights disappointment, this beer is a real treat. Clear as the waters of the Great Barrier Reef, with the tingly, fizzy, chill of an arctic glacier, this drink is nearly perfect. The best Kristallklar I have had and I have had a LOT. Purely Belter 4  1/4 [...]

Julius Echter Premium (Hefer-Weissbier Dunkel)

This is a strange one.  It has a really ‘muddy’ appearance which, initially at least, is quite off-putting. However, that said, the taste is quite pleasant.  Flavour?  It’s hard to say.  Really hard to say.  One thing I do know though, this beer makes for a rather whiffy evening.  Strong stomach is needed. Can’t decide [...]

Okocim

Disappointing beer. Tastes like a stale ale. A 7.1% polish beer with a disappointing taste.  I would not try again 1  1/2 Beer Mats Bought from AS Food and Wine, Highgate.   Price: £1.59

Kuppers Kolsch

A nice beer to start the day. A little bitter but quite wheaty.  At 4.8 %, it is very tasty. 31/2 beer mats Bought in The Spaniards Inn, Highate.  Price £3.55.  Not bad at all.

Samuel Smith’s Alpine Lager

In my opinion, this is a strange, but enjoyable beverage.  Delightfully fizzy with a hint of the woods about it. It leaves a truly unique aftertaste on the tongue that is very distinctive. The fact that it is an absolute bargain is also a major plus. 3 Beer Mats This beverage was purchased in The [...]
